We are pleased to announce an update to our EBSCO Discovery Service and EBSCOhost Research platforms. Find out more about why we made this update and what changed.
Q. Why does EBSCOhost and EBSCO Discovery Service look different?
In an effort to improve and enhance the user experience, several of our core products now offer a fully responsive web experience. With this update, users are now able to access content from their mobile devices with the same features and functionality available to them on desktop computers.
Q. Did the functionality change?
For users on a desktop or tablet the change is primarily in look and feel only. At first glance you will notice the larger buttons, bigger text links and more white space. This allows for easier navigation on a smaller screen, while allowing us to provide a cleaner, more modern look.
Mobile users are now able to access content from their mobile devices with the same features and functionality available to them on desktop computers. This includes the ability to create persistent links.
We are confident this new design will not only provide a better user experience, but it will also allow us to continue providing the most secure research platforms available.
Q. Will I need to change/update my access?
Most customers experienced seamless transitions using our previous automatic device detection, so this change has no impact. Customers who specifically target our mobile site will be notified, if necessary.
Q. Can I continue to use EBSCO apps to access content?
We want to provide a variety of access options for your EBSCO products. However, we have determined that we can provide the best current (and future) experience through our primary interface. Now that we have full support for all device sizes, later this year we will be announcing changes to mobile access via specific apps and interfaces. Customers impacted will receive appropriate notification.
