How do I enable and configure Text-to-Speech for EBSCO interfaces?

EBSCO's Text-to-Speech feature enables end users to have HTML Full Text articles read to them from the Detailed Record screen. Administrators can enable Text-To-Speech for their profiles using EBSCOadmin.

To enable Text-to-Speech:

  1. Log in to EBSCOadmin at  

  2. Click the Customize Services Tab and select the appropriate Group and Profile from the drop-down lists.

  3. Click the Searching Sub-Tab.

  4. Set Display Text-to-Speech to Yes.

  5. Click Submit to save your changes.

You may also choose to change your default Text-to-Speech settings such as Voice (accent) or reading speed.

To change your default Text-to-Speech settings:

  1. From the Searching Sub-Tab, click the Modify link to the right of Configure Text-to-Speech.

  2. Select an Accent from the Voice Choice drop-down menu.

  3. Select a speed from the Voice Reading Speed drop-down menu.

  4. Click Submit to save your changes.
