How to Use the EBSCO eBooks App - FAQs

The EBSCO eBooks app enables you to download EBSCO eBooks from your eBook collection to your mobile device, seamlessly. Enjoy eBooks on your phones and tablets, and access them anytime, anywhere.

Q. How do I download the EBSCO eBooks app?

Q. Do I need an Adobe ID to authorize the EBSCO eBooks app?

No, an Adobe ID is not required to authorize the app.

  1. After downloading the EBSCO eBooks app, open the app and tap Authorize to authorize it to read eBooks.

  2. Tap Find Books and use the library locator to find your library in the app before you can search for and download eBooks to your device.


Q. How do I find my library in the app to search for eBooks?

After downloading and authorizing the app on your device, you must find your library before searching for eBooks.

To find your library:

  1. Tap Find Books.

  2. Select your Country from the drop-down menu.

  3. Select your State or Province.

  4. Select your library from the list of available libraries displayed.

  5. Enter your EBSCO login values (user ID and password, patron ID, etc.) and tap Login.


Q. Why doesn’t my library appear in the app?

Libraries must opt in to appear in the eBooks app, so your institution may not be aware of the opportunity or may not have chosen to participate. For information about your library's participation in the EBSCO eBooks app, please contact your library administrator. If they are interested in making the app available to their patrons, EBSCO will be happy to help them with setup.


Q. How do I search for eBooks?

To search for eBooks in the app:

  1. Tap Find Books in the menu at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Enter terms in the search box and tap the magnifying glass.


    Select a category from the Browse box or a title from one of the available carousels below.

  3. Tap a Download link for a title you would like to download.


Q. How do I download an eBook?

To download an eBook:

  1. Tap the Download (Offline) link for an eBook you would like to download to your device.

  2. Login to your personal My EBSCOhost folder account or select Create a new Account, to create a new one.

  3. Select a Checkout Period from the drop-down menu and tap Checkout & Download.

    The eBook is added to the Checkout area of your My EBSCOhost folder and begins to download to your device.

  4. Tap Read Now to begin reading or you can continue to search for more eBooks to download to your device.

Q. How do I return an eBook before the checkout period ends?

If you have finished reading a title and would like to return it to your library, you can do this before the checkout duration ends

To return an eBook:

  1. Tap the List View icon in the upper right of the Bookshelf.

  2. Select the icon to the right of the eBook title to get to the menu items.

  3. Tap Return Item.

    The eBook is removed from your device and no longer appears in your Bookshelf.
