Why did I receive the message “You cannot access the content because this action is not supported”?

With the latest release of EBSCOhost, EBSCO has improved handling for eBooks and Audiobooks to ensure the content on our platform is thoroughly secure.

This error message appears in the following scenarios:

  • A user attempts to read or download an eBook or Audiobook using a URL copied from another browser or tab
  • A user attempts to read or download an eBook or Audiobook title in a new tab or window which was generated by a right-click
  • A user attempts to access the eBook or Audiobook using IE7 and does not accept cookies
  • A browser token fails to refresh
  • A user’s EBSCOhost session expires while they are in the eBook viewer
  • A user’s online checkout expires while they are in the viewer
