Rehabilitation Reference Center - Advanced Search - Single Find Field

The Rehabilitation Reference Center (RRC) Advanced Search Single Find screen offers keyword searching, search history and limiters to help you focus your search. Your institution's administrator determines the style of Advanced Search screen you see.

To create an Advanced Search:

  1. In the Find field, enter your search terms.

Note: If your institution subscribes to additional databases compatible with RRC (for example, CINAHL or MEDLINE), the Additional Databases dropdown list box is available. To modify the selected databases, use the Additional Databases drop down list box.

  2. Select the document types that you want. If you want to find results for all document types (Clinical Reviews, Patient Education, etc.), be sure they are all checked. If you want only specific document types (for example, only Drugs), uncheck the types that you don't want.

  3. Use Limiters to narrow your search. For example:

    • Full Text – limits search results to full text articles.
    • Source – limits search results to articles from a specific title.
    • Published Date From – limits search results to the date range entered.
  4. Use Expanders to broaden your search:

    • Apply related words – expands search results by including synonyms and plurals of your search terms.
    •  Also search within the full text of the articles – expands search results by finding your term(s) within the full text of the articles.
  5. Click Search. A Result List is displayed.

Notes:

  • If you click the Rehabilitation Reference Center logo, you are returned to the Advanced Search Screen with all your search terms cleared.

  • If you click the Refine Search link, you are returned to Advanced Search with search terms, limiters and expanders remembered.

  • If you click the Advanced Search link, you are returned to Advanced Search with search terms, limiters and expanders cleared.

  • If enabled by your RRC administrator, clustering of results is available when there are more than fifteen result list items. Clustered results are grouped by Subject and by Source.

  • The Advanced Search screen includes a Browse area allows you to browse through or search for Publications (by name) included in the RRC database. If your site subscribes to additional databases, you might see additional items, with different browse options available.

  • You can save searches and later retrieve them for reuse on the Advanced Search Screen. For more information, see the Saving Searches and Alerts Help topics. Before you can save searches, you must set up a personal account in RRC. For more information, see the Personal Account Help topic.

  • If you perform an Advanced Search with a CINAHL or MEDLINE database loaded, RRC also displays a Journals tab including those results.
