Option Grid - How to Create an Option Grid Decision Aid

EBSCO Health Option Grid™ decision aids are brief, easy-to-read tools to help patients and healthcare professionals compare options. Brief enough to use in the clinic visit, the decision aids provide evidence-based answers to questions that patients frequently ask.

To create a customized Decision Aid:

  1. Click on a Decision Aid on the Option Grid home screen or select one from the Decision Aids drop-down menu at the top of the screen.

  2. For some Decision Aids, risk information in the content can be customized. Fill in the patient information to customize your Decision Aid and click the Next button at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Select two or three options to compare in your Decision Aid and click Next.

  4. Your Decision Aid is displayed. Content is written at a 6th grade reading level.

  5. Use the icons at the top of the Decision Aid to:

    • share icon - Click to share a link to the Decision Aid with your patient.

    • PDF icon - Click to create a PDF of your Decision Aid which can be saved to your device.

    • EMR icon - Click to add a prepopulated EMR note. The patient will be able to access the customized decision aid even if they do not have an EBSCO subscription. The EMR documentation note contains a link that will always show the exact information you provided to the patient at the time you generated the decision aid.
