Browsing Competencies

Competencies may be available on the Leadership & Management Learning Center (LMLC) Home screen and offer a simple point-and-click option for browsing information related to successful job performance.

Depending on your institution's account, you may see EBSCO pre-selected competencies or those determined by your institution. When you click on a competency in a list, you get a result list of all items related to the selected competency.

To browse competencies:

  1. Click a competency on the home page to view items related to it.

    Note: If more competencies are available, click on + More to view them.

  2. A result list is displayed. Click on a title to read an article, book, etc.

Browsing Carousels

Carousels allow you to browse the most recently added eBooks, Business Book Summaries, etc. Your interface may have up to three carousels as determined by your institution's administrator.

To browse carousels, simply use the left and right arrows to navigate through the titles and hold your pointer over a title to view more information about it. When you find an item you would like to read or download (eBooks), click on the cover image to view the Detailed Record.

To browse carousels:

  1. Use the left and right arrows to navigate through the titles.

  2. Hold your pointer over a title to view more information about it.

  3. When you find an item you would like to read or download (eBooks), click on the cover image to view the Detailed Record.

 

Adding Comments & Ratings

When signed into your personal account, LMLC allows you to share your own comments and ratings on articles with other members of your institution.

To add comments and/or ratings to articles:

  1. Click the Add Comment/Rating link for the item which you would like to rate or comment on.

  2. If you are not signed in to your personal My EBSCOhost account, you are prompted to sign in.

  3. Click Add Comment/Rating.

  4. Add your comment and/or rating in the fields provided and click Save.

Your comments and ratings are stored in your personal folder and can be viewed in the Comments and Ratings area.

Personal Account

Your personal account allows you to save items you find in LMLC to a personal folder. You can save Result List items, persistent links to searches, saved searches, search alerts, journal alerts and web pages. The items you save to your personal folder remain in your folder until you remove them.

Creating a Personal Account
  1. Click the Sign In link in the top toolbar.

  2. From the Sign In Screen, click the Create a new Account link.

  3. The Create a New Account Screen appears. Fill in the fields on the Create a New Account Screen. When you have completed the fields, click Save Changes.

  4. If all the information was accepted, a message appears that provides your user name and password. Click OK. You will be automatically logged in as a personal user. You should note the user name and password you created so you can log in at a future session.

Notes:

  • Due to EBSCO's privacy policy, we are unable to obtain and give out user ID and password information. You should record your user name and password immediately after you create it.

  • The email address you enter when signing up will be used to notify you of expiration of alerts as well as changes to alerts.

Logging in to Your Personal Account
  1. Click the Sign In link. The Sign In screen is displayed.

  2. Enter your User Name and Password in the User Name and Password text boxes, and then click Login.

  3. Confirm that you are logged in to your account by viewing your first name above the Help link.

Modifying Account User Information

You might need to change some of the information stored with your account (such as your password) or you might want to delete your account. Use Update My Account to make these changes.

  1. Sign in to your personal account by clicking the Sign In link at the top of the screen.

  2. Click the Update My Account link at the top of the page.

  3. Use the options on the page to update your account - such as change your password.

    Note: You cannot change your User Name.

  4. Click Save Changes.
