How do I customize EBSCOhost Integrated Search databases on an EDS or EBSCOhost profile?

If Integrated Search is part of your institution’s EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) subscription or your EBSCOhost profile, your EBSCOhost Integrated Search (EHIS) databases can be customized on the Databases sub-tab.

To Customize the EHIS Databases on your profile:

  1. Select the Discovery Service or EBSCOhost profile and click the Databases sub-tab. The Databases Screen displays.

Note: If you are customizing EHIS databases on an EBSCOhost profile, they do not appear in a Remote Content section, but with your EBSCOhost databases.

  3. Click on a hyperlinked database name in the Customize Databases on Current Profile column to customize the information for that database.

  4. The Customize Database Information screen displays.

  7. Enter a Description that your users will see on the Choose Database screen as well as in the panel on the right-hand side of the result list. (Max. 1,500 characters)

  8. Click Submit.

Setting Connector Databases to Not Search by Default

If your institution’s EBSCO Discovery Service subscription includes integrated search connector databases from external providers, you can default those connector databases to not be searched by default on initial searches.

When you do this, connector databases are not searched but still appear in the integrated search panel as an option to be searched on the result list. To view results from a connector database that has not been searched, a user selects the database in the integrated search panel and those results are displayed.

To set connector databases to not be searched in your EDS profile:

  1. Select the desired EDS profile and click the Databases sub-tab. The Databases Screen displays.

  2. Scroll to the Remote Content (Integrated Search Connectors) area of the list.

  3. In the Default to Search column, set the radio button to Off for each of the connectors you do not want searched by default.

  4. Click Submit to save your changes.
