How do I create a DDA in EBSCOhost Collection Manager?

Demand-Driven Acquisition (DDA) is a library term that represents an acquisition method for filling library shelves with content chosen by patrons rather than librarians.

In EBSCOhost Collection Manager (ECM), the concept of DDA is implemented with the use of DDA lists, which can be created from both the Home screen and the Result List.


Create a DDA List from the Home Screen

To create a DDA in ECM from the Home Screen:

  1. Click the New in the DDAs drop-down menu at the top of the screen.

  2. Name your list and choose your list settings. When creating your DDA, you can also set your Deposit or Budget amount.

    Note: A minimum deposit or budget amount of $1,000 is required to create a DDA.

  3. Click Save DDA.

    Your DDA has been created.

Add Titles to a DDA

The next step is to add titles to your DDA.

  1. Search ECM for titles to add to your DDA.

    Note: When searching, you can use the DDA Eligible limiter to view only titles that are eligible for DDA purchase.

  2. Click the Add to List/DDA link for a title to add it to the DDA list. You can also click the Add Page to List/DDA to add all displayed titles to your DDA.

  3. Select the Add to DDA button and then choose your DDA from the drop-down list.

  4. Select an Access Model or Loan Terms and click the Add to DDA button at the bottom of the window.

  5. Click Add to Cart to add the DDA to your cart when you are finished.

  6. Indicate that you have read and Agree to the Order Terms and agree to pay for your eContent order by checking the box.

  7. Click Finalize Order to complete your purchase.

Creating a DDA List from the Result List

EBSCOhost Collection Manager also allows you to quickly create a DDA list from the result list. This streamlined process allows you to create your DDA and continue to search for and add eBooks without having to select the full settings until later.

To create a DDA list from the result list:

  1. Run a search for eBooks on EBSCOhost Collection Manager.

  2. From the Result List, click the Add to List/DDA for a title you would like to add to a new DDA list.

  3. Click Add to DDA in the Add to List/DDA window that appears and select Create New DDA from the drop-down menu.

  4. Select from the available access models or loan terms and click the Add to DDA button.

  5. From the Create New DDA window that displays, enter the following information:

    • Name (required)
    • Fund Code
    • Payment Model (required)
    • Deposit/Budget (required)

  6. Click the Create DDA button.

  7. Click to Continue Shopping or go to the Full Settings to complete the setup of your DDA list.
