EBSCOadmin - Interface Usage Report

The Interface Usage Report reflects the number of interface sessions, searches, and requests logged against an EBSCO interface (such as EBSCOhost, EBSCO Discovery Service, Literary Reference Center, etc.) within a selected time period. If your site uses more than one EBSCO interface, it is possible to run reports which detail usage by each available interface.

To run an interface usage report:

  1. Log in to EBSCOadmin at http://eadmin.ebscohost.com.

  2. Click Reports & Statistics in the tool bar at the top of the screen.

  3. Click Standard Usage Reports under EBSCOhost/EDS.

  4. Select Interface Usage Report from the Report Type drop-down menu.

    Select interface usage report

  5. Sites - Select to include statistics for All sites or select a specific site. (Consortia only)

  6. Interface – Select All Interfaces Accessed, or select All Subscribed Interfaces. When selecting All Subscribed Interfaces, you can click the Select/View button to fine tune which interfaces to include in the report. On the window that appears, you can remove all interfaces or remove specific interfaces from appearing on the report.

For example: to view statistics for the EBSCOhost interface, remove all interfaces and then select EBSCOhost Research Databases.

Note: If you are a consortium administrator and see extra interfaces on your Interfaces Usage report, this could be caused by the use of the “All Interfaces Accessed” option in the report menu, which will display all statistics including interfaces accessed by member institutions, independent of the consortium. Choose “All Subscribed Interfaces” to see only those interfaces accessed by the consortium.

  7. Reporting Period - Click the date range field to select a reporting period or create a custom date range for your report.

  8. Analysis Level - Select to display database usage at one of the following levels: Database, Interface, Site (Consortia only), Group, or Profile.

  9. Count Aggregation - Select to aggregate your statistics by the Total number of hits, or group them on the report By Year or By Month.

  10. Metric View - Select to view Totals Only of the metrics in the report, or select Detailed to view specifics about those metrics.

For example: The Totals Only option would display a number for all Full-Text statistics, while Detailed would further break down Full Text statistics into columns for Total Full Text, HTML Full Text, and PDF Full Text.

  11. Delivery - Select to Download the report when it is complete from the Download Reports tab or choose the E-mail option to fill in your e-mail address, a subject line, frequency (one-time or scheduled monthly) and the desired Format (MS Excel or tab delimited).

  12. Click Create Report for Download to generate your report.

  13. Once the report has been generated, click the Download Reports tab above the Report Type drop-down menu and click the hyperlinked report format to download.
