Will the simultaneous user limit still apply when I'm searching in EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS)?

If you choose to include a database with a simultaneous user restriction, your user limit restrictions will apply. In this instance, an open seat within that database must be available in order for the database to be searched within EDS. A seat is occupied by a unique EBSCOhost  user session and is not released until the session ends.

Please note that closing the browser will not end the session. A session is closed when one of the following conditions is met:

  • Session timeout: The user is inactive or closes the browser window without logging out. The sessions will automatically time out after a specified length of time. The default timeout period is 30 minutes, but can range from 15 minutes to 8 hours and can be configured in EBSCOadmin.

  • Selecting a hyperlinked library logo or library name: If your library name or library logo in the upper right corner of the page has been customized to act as a hyperlink to your website, users will be able to click on the link to end their session and be redirected to your web page.

If you need additional information on whether any of the databases included in your EDS profile is imposing limits, please contact your Sales Representative or email eds@ebscohost.com.
