What do the dates, included in the notes for a CINAHL subject heading, mean?

Sometimes you may see a date with a subject heading. e.g The subject “Ethanol” has the following in the history notes, “Searchable electronically since 1988.” This means that the subject heading, “Ethanol,” can be searched electronically from the year 1988 and forward.

If a subject heading does not have a “searchable electronically since” note accompanying it, then that means the subject heading is searchable since 1983. An example of a subject heading without such a note is “Brain Concussion.”
