Business Book Summaries Application for iPhone/iPod touch - FAQs

Q. What is the Business Book Summaries app available for iPhone and iPod Touch users?

EBSCO offers an app for accessing Business Book Summaries (BBS) from your iPhone and iPod Touch devices. The BBS app is available for download from the iTunes app store.

BBS includes:

  • A 100- word abstract of each book
  • A comprehensive six to eight-page summary of each book
  • Summaries and reviews for more than 1,300 of the top business books from the last twenty years, with new summaries continuously added
  • Audio versions of the summaries, when available
  • Option to save summaries for viewing and listening in offline mode
  • Ability to browse by category, recently-added titles, or summaries with audio

You authenticate the BBS app by clicking the BBS app link found at the bottom of the BBS interface and following the instructions provided.

 

Q. How do I download the Business Book Summaries application for iPhone/iPod touch?

The Business Book Summaries (BBS) app for iPhone/iPod touch is available for download from the iTunes app store. After downloading the app, it must be authenticated from the Business Book Summaries interface.

To authenticate the BBS app:

  1. Log into the BBS interface.

  2. Click the Business Book Summaries iPhone/iPod Touch Application link at the bottom of the page and enter your email address.

    Note: You must use an email address you can access from your device.

    An email with an authentication key is sent to you.

  3. Access the email from your device and click the link found in the email to authenticate the application.

    You have 24 hours to access the key from your device to authenticate the app. If the key is not used within 24 hours, it expires and you will need a new key.

Note: Once it is authenticated, the app can be used for six months, after which you must send yourself a new authentication key from the BBS interface.

 

Q. Can I save items to my personal Business Book Summaries folder using the iPhone app?

No, at this time your personal My Business Book Summaries folder is not compatible with the BBS iPhone app.

Items and searches that are saved using the app are stored within the device's internal memory.

 

Q. Why won't the Business Book Summaries iPhone app authenticate when I click the link in the email?

After clicking the Business Book Summaries iPhone/iPod Touch Application link in BBS, you will receive an email containing an authentication link.

In order to authenticate the BBS iPhone app, you must tap the authentication link from within your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad mail application.

 

For Administrators

Q. How do I disable the Business Book Summaries iPhone authentication link with EBSCOadmin?

The Business Book Summaries (BBS) app is available from the iTunes app store for download.

Administrators may choose to disable the authentication link that appears in BBS using a setting in EBSCOadmin. When this setting is disabled, users are not able to authenticate the BBS iPhone app to their institution's account.

To disable the iPhone authentication link:

  1. Log into EBSCOadmin at http://eadmin.ebscohost.com/.

  2. Select the Business Book Summaries profile you wish to modify.

  3. In the General Settings sub-tab under Customize Services, change the Display iPhone authentication link setting to No.

  4. Click Submit.
